Generals Prevail, 2-1, Over Huntington
|
Albert Surtees pitched well, but the Huntington Hermit Crabs still lost the game, falling 2-1 to the Washington Generals at Washington Park. The winner was Washington reliever Carl Anning, now 2-1. The loser was Albert Surtees. Juan Gutiérrez closed the door for Washington, picking up his 13th save of the year.
The Generals got a big at-bat from first baseman Rick Smith. For the game, Smith was 1-3 with a home run. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Washington a 1-0 lead.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Smith told the Washington Gazette.
With the win, Washington upped its record to 28-24.
