Hobeaus Upend Godfathers, 5-3
|
With center fielder Senzo Matsuura leading the charge, the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus defeated the Pontiac Godfathers, 5-3, at Pontiac Copperdome. Matsuura, who is tied for 6th in the SA in triples with 3, was 4 for 4 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs. Alberto Ramos got the save, the 15th for him this season. Smoky Mountain has a record of 23-29, placing them 7th in the Silver A.
With Smoky Mountain leading 1-0 in the top of the fifth, Matsuura hit a curveball from Paul Allen for a run-scoring double. It was his 8th double of the season and put the Hobeaus ahead, 2-0.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Matsuura told the Smoky Mountain Daily News.
