Hobeaus Fall Short at Yucca Valley, 5-4
|
Yucca Valley picked up a win at Ballpark of Yucca Valley, toppling the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus, 5-4. Pitcher Hang-ki Cong was one of the reasons the Yellows triumphed. The winner was Yucca Valley reliever Guo-ning Wang, now 1-0. The loser was Adrian Griffith. Eric Ramírez locked down his 10th save.
Had Okakura Samurakami not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Samurakami hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Yellows.
"We take it day by day here," said Cong, "and today was a good one for us."
The 6th-place Yellows lifted their record to 15-13.
