Niagara Falls Gets 7-4 Win
|
Despite a fine performance by right fielder Stephen Hammond, the Kent Comets lost to the Niagara Falls Expos, 7-4. Hammond was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The winner in relief was Troy Charles Jr.. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. He now owns a record of 6-5. The 9th-place Expos sport a record of 43-53.
Jermaine George, the 22-year old shortstop , had a direct impact on the outcome. George contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the seventh inning to put Niagara Falls up, 4-3.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," George said.
