The Syracuse Storm beat the Niagara Falls Expos, 3-2, at Storm Park. The Storm got a fine performance from designated hitter Ralph Thornton, who went 2 for 2 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Todd Huff notched his 17th save in 20 chances. The 10th-place Storm improved to 39-53.
Randy Jones aided the Syracuse cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the left fielder went 1-2 with a double and was hit by a pitch.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Syracuse manager Harris Bailey.
