Good production from left fielder Terry Valdéz helped the Laredo Hawks topple the Monroeville Yinzers, 6-2. Valdéz slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Hawks. Laredo pitcher Richard Wood got the win, upping his record to 1-0. Mané Garrincha got the loss. The win takes Laredo to 4-7.

In the top of the first of a scoreless game, Valdéz hit a 3-run home run to put his team ahead.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Valdéz told the Laredo Daily.
