Crawdads Earn 2-1 Win Versus Arryns
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Cut Off Crawdads eventually prevailed.
Cut Off picked up a win at Arryns Ballpark, bumping off the Lake Erie Arryns, 2-1. Pitcher Bill Draper was a major reason the Crawdads emerged victorious. Draper, now 4-4, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Jeff Lynch converted his 17th save in 19 tries.
Cut Off used the timely hitting of Jean-Claude Leprêtre to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Crawdads on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Cut Off manager Manuel Barrios said.
The victory gives the Crawdads a record of 41-38.
