Caterpillars Defeat Hawks, 5-4
|
The Grand Forks Caterpillars wiggled past the Laredo Hawks, 5-4, at Hawks Field. The win was highlighted by the performance of Grand Forks pitcher Nathan Sims. Todd Jackson earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 4 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. The Caterpillars, now 2-0, have played some good baseball in the early going.
Grand Forks used the clutch hitting of Richard Carter to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the 16th inning to give the Caterpillars the lead, 5-4. For the game, Carter had 1 single and 2 doubles in 8 at-bats.
"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Sims.
