River Rats Lose By a Run at Kent, 6-5
|
The Kent Comets topped the Columbia River Rats by a score of 6-5. Leading the way was second baseman Carlos Campos. Campos went 3-4 with 3 singles for the Comets. Bhari Subodh, now 1-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3.1 innings. The Comets have an impressive 39-21 record.
Massac, Kentucky-born Rick MacIlleriach came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Comets trailing 5-4, he hit a 2-run single to left to put Kent on top.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Campos said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
