The Syracuse Storm and Mancelona Torch were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

Getting an impressive start from Walt Gould, Mancelona beat Syracuse by the score of 4-1. The Torch are now 23-12, while the Storm fall to 14-21.

Mancelona used the timely hitting of Takenao Taniguchi to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Torch on top, 4-1. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We played hard and won," said Gould. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
