Rainbow Mermaids Deal Leviathan 4-3 Loss
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids faced a tough opponent in Nova Scotia pitcher Dave Stafford, but did just enough to pull out the victory at The Dungeon in Halifax by a final score of 4-3. Stafford went 8 innings and allowed 4 runs. Javier Ariza got the win, improving to 1-1. He worked 5.2 innings, giving up 3 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Northern Virginia is off to a hot start at 8-3.

In the top of the sixth inning, Guillermo Dettori went deep for the Rainbow Mermaids. With Northern Virginia trailing 3-2, he drilled a solo home run.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Northern Virginia manager David Lister. "It's usually not just one thing."
