Rails Sneak By Pilgrims, 4-3
|
The Richland Rails racked up a win at Rails Ballpark, bumping off the Providence Pilgrims, 4-3. Iwan Vroom, who started for Richland, pitched effectively for his team. Richland reliever Manny Negrete picked up the win, upping his record to 7-8. Lodovico Tadini took the loss. The win elevated the Rails to 40-37.
Richland won the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. With no outs and Lodovico Tadini on the mound for Providence, first baseman Roger Torres hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Rails fans to their feet.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Torres told the Richland Daily.
