Thunder Hawks Win at Northville, 3-2
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks got the win.
The Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks bested the Northville Eclipse by a score of 3-2, with second baseman Danny McElroy getting the main credit. On the day, McElroy was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Thunder Hawks. Carlos Pagán got the win, improving to 2-2. He held the Eclipse to 2 runs on 3 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 0 and walking 2. José Franco finished the game for Ft. Polk South and earned his 4th save.
With Ft. Polk South leading 1-0 in the top of the first, McElroy hit a cutter from Tim Chuter for a 2-run home run. It was his 22nd home run of the season and put the Thunder Hawks ahead, 3-0.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," McElroy said after the game.
The Thunder Hawks raised their record to 28-43.
