Islava Slugs Thunder Hawks to 4-2 Win
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks got the win.
Félix Islava left his imprint on the 4-2 Ft. Polk South win against the Richland Rails. Islava, who is tied for 2nd in the PAA with a .323 batting average, belted 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. The win puts Ft. Polk South at 18-34.
Islava contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Ft. Polk South in the top of the second. With his team trailing 2-1, Islava took a cutter from Manny Guerra and stroked the home run to right. His 8th home run of the season allowed the Thunder Hawks to leap in front, 4-2.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Ft. Polk South manager John Anderson.
