Mercer Island and Ft. Polk South duked it out and the Screaming Eagles came out victorious.

The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles beat the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks, 6-3. Mercer Island pitcher and San Jose, California, native Ralph Winters led the way. Mercer Island raised its record to 25-19 with the win.

Mercer Island used the bat of Bill Zimmerman to capture the win. The center fielder jacked a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Screaming Eagles ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a dandy.

"Nervous? No," said Winters. "It was my time to shine."
