Mancelona second baseman Charles Cummings contributed to his team's 6-2 win over the Alameda Airmen. Cummings, who leads the 3A with a .414 batting average, went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Torch. The save was credited to Ted Warner, his 1st. The Torch, now 12-4, have hit the ground running this season.

It could have been a different outcome for Mancelona, had it not been for Takenao Taniguchi, the 20-year old center fielder . Taniguchi contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put Mancelona up, 3-2.

Taniguchi called the win "a collective effort."
