Thunder Hawks Deal Loons 7-2 Setback
|
Good production from first baseman Orlando Cochón helped the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks topple the Minnesota Loons, 7-2. Cochón was 3 for 4 with 3 singles. He scored 2 runs for the Thunder Hawks. Wayne King got the win, improving to 1-1. He worked 6 innings, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Bartolo Márquez recorded the save for Ft. Polk South, his 2nd of the season.
The Thunder Hawks got an important contribution from left fielder Bailey Stuart, who in the bottom of the sixth punched a 1-1 fastball into right for a 2-run double. It was his 7th double of the season and put the Thunder Hawks ahead, 4-2.
Cochón expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
The Thunder Hawks raised their record to 10-14.
