Mercer Island designated hitter Jorge Gómez helped his team beat the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks, 7-5. Gómez, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2043 draft, went 2 for 3 for the Screaming Eagles. Lung Zhou came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 3 innings. His record now stands at 2-1. Dan Smith recorded his 2nd save for Mercer Island.

Mercer Island took a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, when Marcos Villanueva hit a clutch 2-run home run to bring Screaming Eagles fans to their feet.

"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Mercer Island manager Ricardo Vargas.

The Screaming Eagles, at 15-6, have now won 9 straight.
