Long, Loons Beat Atoms, 5-2
|
The Minnesota Loons beat the Bethesda Atoms, 5-2, at Atoms Field. Minnesota left fielder Steve Long had an outstanding performance. He went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Carlos Piñeiro was credited with the save for Minnesota, his 2nd of the season. The Atoms, now 5-10, continue their inauspicious start.
Long came through for Minnesota with a run-scoring single in the top of the second. He hit a 1-2 fastball to center field, staking his team to a 3-2 lead.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Long said.
