Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Guinea Pigs
|
Gwinnett Guinea Pigs starter Randy Woodruff turned in a top-notch performance against the Billings Polar Bears at The Igloo. The result was a win for the Guinea Pigs, 4-1. Gwinnett reliever Francisco Díaz was the winner. His record is now 3-2. Hisham Daud took the loss. Gwinnett improves to 71-24 with the win. They lead their division by 15½ games.
Gwinnett used a clutch hit from José Moreno to get the win. The third baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Guinea Pigs ahead, 4-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a doozy.
"We put together a nice win," Woodruff said.
