Whales Lose By a Run at Billings, 3-2
|
Billings pitcher León Morán did his part in helping his team beat the Virginia Beach Whales, 3-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Morán, now 2-6, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing no runs. At 43-44, the Polar Bears find themselves in 5th place in the Silver AA.
With Billings leading 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Paul Hutchins hit a run-scoring single off Virginia Beach pitcher Liu-liang Lei. It put the Polar Bears ahead 3-0.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Billings manager Marvin Nelson said.
