Andropov Hits 2 home runs in Turbeaus Win
|
The Gulf Coast Turbeaus topped the Tacoma Fur Traders, 5-3, with designated hitter Pikup Andropov playing a big role. Andropov hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Turbeaus in the win. Arturo Sánchez, the winner, improved to 5-2. He held Tacoma to 2 runs on 3 hits over 5 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. António Vázquez picked up the save for Gulf Coast, his 3rd of the year.
With Gulf Coast leading 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Andropov hit a sinker from Alfonso Medina for a 2-run home run. It was his 13th home run of the season and put the Turbeaus ahead, 3-0.
"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Andropov. "Just do my job."
Today's win puts Gulf Coast at 30-32, while Tacoma falls to 23-39.
