Magic was in the air and on the mound at Experimental Stadium today as Homer Sanders held the Marquette Miners spellbound in his 4-0 shutout victory. The Gwinnett Guinea Pigs pitcher went the distance, rang up 6 strikeouts, walked 1 and held the Miners to 3 hits to garner the win.
"He just had us in his thrall," Marquette manager Billy Strauss said later. "We couldn't put anything together against him."
Thus far this season Sanders has posted a 7-2 record, started 11 games, struck out 69 batters in 75.1 innings and compiled a 3.70 ERA.
