Polar Bears Upend Whales, 6-3
|
The Billings Polar Bears dealt the Virginia Beach Whales a 6-3 loss at Virginia Beach Grounds. Henry Andrews was the star on offense. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Will Bass, the winning pitcher, improved to 5-1. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2. The victory gives Billings a record of 27-24.
With Billings leading 3-0 in the top of the sixth, Andrews hit a fastball from Norm Wells for a 3-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Polar Bears ahead, 6-0.
Andrews attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
