The Billings Polar Bears defeated the Virginia Beach Whales, 7-5, at Virginia Beach Grounds today. Leading the charge for Billings was second baseman Don Fowler. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Juan Hernández, now 5-1, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 3 hits, while striking out 0 and walking 2. Edward Pritchard recorded the save for Billings, his 14th of the season.

Alonso Romo, the 22-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Romo contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the seventh inning to put Billings up, 5-4.
