Late Rally by Polar Bears Seals 4th Straight Win
|
The Billings Polar Bears got a magnificent performance from pitcher Hidehira Shibutani, who muffled the Tacoma offense en route to a tight 3-1 Polar Bears win at The Igloo. Edward Pritchard got credit for the save for Billings. It was his 11th of the year. The 9th-place Fur Traders have dropped 4 straight games.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Roberto Flores came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Tacoma pitcher Tony Nelson, he hit a 2-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Billings on top, 2-1.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Flores. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
