Miners Deal Pierogis 6-5 Defeat
The Squirrel Hill Pierogis and Marquette Miners provided some drama for the home crowd.

The Marquette Miners topped the Squirrel Hill Pierogis, 6-5, with youngster Al Stabb playing a key role. Stabb went 2 for 4 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Miners in the win. Reliever Gianlorenzo Albertini picked up the win. His record improves to 4-0. Cipriano Rosas took the loss. Jong-beom Park recorded the save for Marquette, his 5th of the season.

In the top of the ninth inning, Marquette got a key at-bat from Stabb. With one out, the bases empty and the Miners trailing 5-4, Stabb hit a solo home run.

"We take it day by day here," said Stabb, "and today was a good one for us."

The Pierogis have now dropped 5 straight.
