Late Magic Gets Billings 5-3 Win
|
The Billings Polar Bears racked up a win at Mobile Home Park, bumping off the Gulf Coast Turbeaus, 5-3. Hidehira Shibutani, who started for Billings, pitched effectively for his team. Shibutani, the winner, moves to 1-1. He threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. Edward Pritchard picked up the save, his 5th.
Billings used the timely hitting of Tuo-zhou Lew to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Polar Bears on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Billings manager Marvin Nelson. "It's usually not just one thing."
The Turbeaus drop to 9-10 and continue their mediocre start to the 2047 season.
