The Virginia Beach Whales beat the Tacoma Fur Traders, 7-1, at Virginia Beach Grounds. Virginia Beach designated hitter Walt Reed had an outstanding performance. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Liu-liang Lei, the winner, improved to 2-1. He held the Fur Traders to 1 run on 5 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Tacoma now has a record of 7-6.
