Nationals Top Hops to Even Record
|
In the 8-7 Ottawa win over Yakima, the impact of Jaicus Saracho was substantial. Saracho, who is tied for 6th in the 3AA in RBI with 50, was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Darwin Donovan earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 5 hits in 4.2 innings. He upped his record to 3-4. Gary Dillon collected his 26th save.
Ottawa used the bat of Tom Rollins to get the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Nationals ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it did its damage.
Nationals manager Justin Broadfoot wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
The Hops, now 46-40, have lost 4 straight.
