Thrilling Victory Pushes Sixshooters Win Streak to 5
|
The Westwood Sixshooters beat the Asheville Highlanders, 4-1, at Asheville Park. Starting pitcher Alfredo Casas was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. The winner was Westwood reliever Alfredo Gonzáles, now 5-1. The loser was Michael Weber. The 10th-place Sixshooters have won 5 straight.
Westwood relied on the bat of Michizane Yamashita to get the win. The right fielder ripped a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Sixshooters ahead, 3-1. For the game, Yamashita had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Asheville skipper Jonah Moody, "and it cost us."
