Lighthouse Squelch Patriots Offense in Shutout Win
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Long Island Lighthouse and the Boston Patriots. Long Island won it, 3-0. Long Island starter Greg Hodge was in command. The winning pitcher was Hodge, now 6-4. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 2. Lloyd Natoff recorded the save, his 16th.
Long Island relied on the hitting of Jaime Espinar to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Lighthouse on top, 3-0. For the game, Espinar had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"We had a good game plan," Hodge said, "and we were able to execute it."
The Lighthouse improved to 32-44.
