Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Irving Blue Sox and Ithaca Fighting Imps.
Led by Eugene Huggins, the Irving Blue Sox defeated the Ithaca Fighting Imps, 6-4. Huggins went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Blue Sox. The second-place Blue Sox improved to 35-27.
Had Alejandro De La Cerdo not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, De La Cerdo hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Blue Sox.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," De La Cerdo told the Irving Bulletin. "It's as simple as that."
