Blimps Jolt Sixshooters, 4-2, with Late Rally

Akron Blimps starter Raúl Nieves turned in a top-notch performance against the Westwood Sixshooters at Sixshooters Stadium. The result was a win for the Blimps, 4-2. Nieves went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8. His record improves to 1-0. Bill Williams picked up the save, his 16th.
Akron used the timely hitting of Zhao-ji Pan to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blimps on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Pan attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
The triumph puts Akron at 33-25 for the season.
