Highlanders Lose to Nationals in Walk Off
|
The Ottawa Nationals picked up a win at Nationals Park, taking down the Asheville Highlanders, 2-1. Starting pitcher Bill Jones was a big reason why. Ottawa reliever Jurgen Helmer was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Rob Green. The Highlanders, now 6-11 this season, have struggled to play .500 ball.
Ottawa won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. With one out and Rob Green on the mound for Asheville, designated hitter Cam Lloyd hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Nationals fans to their feet.
"Winning is hard sometimes," said Nationals manager Justin Broadfoot. "This one was nice to get."
