The Nova Scotia Leviathan and Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.
Nova Scotia Leviathan starter Tom DeHart turned in an exceptional performance against the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids at The Dungeon in Halifax, resulting in a Nova Scotia win, 3-1. In 8 innings, DeHart surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Carlos Rodríguez earned the save for Nova Scotia, his 14th of the year.
Patrick Goodhardt drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances for Nova Scotia. The 27-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Javier Ariza. It was his 19th RBI of the season.
Afterward, Leviathan manager Andrew Powell was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
After today's action, Nova Scotia sits at 32-37, while Northern Virginia falls to 42-27.
