A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the New Orleans Voodoo and Kingston Township Knights.
The New Orleans Voodoo took Kingston Township pitcher Edgar Morales's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Cloverdale Legion Park. The final score had New Orleans getting past the Knights, 5-2. Morales went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 1. New Orleans reliever John Ellis got the win, raising his record to 5-1. Tony Rodríguez was tagged with the loss. Russ T. Nayle finished the game for New Orleans and earned his 22nd save.
New Orleans used a clutch hit from Francisco De La Cruz to get the win. The right fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Voodoo ahead, 5-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
De La Cruz called the win "a collective effort."
New Orleans has an impressive 58-28 record.
