The performance of Yeow-whye Zhu proved critical in helping New Orleans beat Thunder Bay, 5-3. The Voodoo third baseman was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Ronnie Gómez, now 4-2, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 0. The first-place Voodoo have won 6 straight games.

Zhu had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-1 fastball from Kyle Greene, he banged a 2-run home run to right-center, giving the Voodoo a 4-2 lead. It was the 9th home run of the year for Zhu.

"Enjoyed this one," Zhu told the New Orleans Chronicle. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
