Flamingos Stumble, Lose to Knights
|
The Kingston Township Knights beat the Las Vegas Flamingos, 8-4, at Cloverdale Legion Park. Tom Rowland, in particular, was impressive. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The winner was Harry MacGruder, who threw 103 pitches over 6.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 7 hits. Manny Burgos got the save, the 1st for him this season.
The Flamingos had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Knights going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 31-year old catcher Quan Easterling came to the plate. Easterling hit a 2-run double on a 0-1 cutter from Las Vegas hurler Dan Seymour. It was Easterling's 11th double of the year.
"Enjoyed this one," Rowland told the Kingston Township Daily. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
Kingston Township has now won 3 straight, while the Flamingos have lost 3 in a row.
