Blimps Prevail, 2-0, Over Asheville
|
The Akron Blimps beat the Asheville Highlanders, 2-0. Akron pitcher and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native José Cruz led the way. Akron reliever Horatio Hornblower got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Jack Handey was tagged with the loss. The save went to Bill Williams, his 4th this season.
Akron took a 2-0 lead on Ed Reilly's 1st double of the season. The 2-run double, which Reilly hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Asheville pitcher Tom Young shaking his head.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Reilly told the Akron Chronicle.
Akron goes to 5-3 with the win.
