McLean Excels, But Pajaritos Win
|
Hialeah got a terrific game from designated hitter George McLean. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Norfolk, 9-5. McLean went 4-4 with 2 home runs and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Donald Nexport, the winning pitcher, improved to 6-4. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 8 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 1 and walking 2. The Pajaritos, at 62-39, lead by one game in their division.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Spencer Maddox? The Norfolk designated hitter had a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Pajaritos on top, 5-1. For the game, Maddox had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Maddox.
