Fighting Dachsunds Score Late, Top Dodos, 5-3
|
The Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds faced a tough opponent in Hialeah pitcher Jesús Ríos, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Dodos Ballpark by a final score of 5-3. Ríos went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Cecil Drabek got credit for the win, improving to 6-2. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. With the victory, the Fighting Dachsunds upped their record to 53-45.
Ellenburg used the timely hitting of Salvador Barrón to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Fighting Dachsunds on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I felt good up there," said Barrón. "I saw the ball well."
