In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.

Getting a good performance from right fielder Rafael Martínez, the St. Louis Coeur defeated the Nova Scotia Leviathan, 8-1. Martínez was 2-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Coeur. Elisheba Petershwim, the winner, improved to 1-1. He held the Leviathan to 1 run on 6 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 3. Branlyn Jaraba was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 4 save opportunities.

Martínez made an early impact for St. Louis when he stroked his 8th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which came in the top of the third, put the Coeur on top, 4-1.

"It was a solid team effort," said Martínez after the game.

St. Louis bumps their record to 28-32 with the win.
