The performance of Charles MacMurdo proved critical in helping Syracuse beat Austin, 3-1. The Squirrel Monkeys first baseman was 2-2 with 2 home runs and a walk. Georges Cormier, credited with the save, is now 13 for 16 in save opportunities. The victory gives Syracuse a record of 54-40.
The game turned with no one out in the bottom of the fourth when MacMurdo, who is tied for 6th in the SAAA in home runs with 18, hit a solo home run. It propelled the Squirrel Monkeys into the lead, 2-1.
MacMurdo told a Syracuse Today reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
