The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys got a sterling performance from pitcher José Guerrero, but the Austin Black Mambas still prevailed, 3-2. Guerrero threw 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball. The winner was Duane Coleman in relief. His record improves to 2-3. Virgil Gilbert took the loss. Austin is now riding a 3-game win streak.
The Black Mambas procured the win, in large part because of pinch hitter José González. In the bottom of the tenth, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.
"Being able to contribute to a win is always a great feeling," González told the Austin Herald.
