Black Mambas Sneak Past Red Pandas, 2-1

The Austin Black Mambas faced a tough opponent in Sioux Falls pitcher Omar Morales, but did just enough to pull out the victory at The Bamboo Forest by a final score of 2-1. Morales went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Patrick Ibáñez got credit for the win, improving to 3-2. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.1 innings. Duane Coleman earned the save for Austin, his 6th of the year.
Runs were scarce in this one. So, Armando Viña's at-bat in the top of the eighth was vitally important. With one out, the Austin right fielder hit a sacrifice fly, to give his team a 2-1 lead.
"The old adage is true," said Viña. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
The Black Mambas, at 32-34, sit in 6th place in the Silver AAA.
