The Monongahela Monsters got a superb performance from pitcher Gustaf Steur. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Syracuse. The Squirrel Monkeys won the game, 3-2. Steur threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Juan González, credited with the save, is now 4 for 4 in save opportunities. With the win, Syracuse upped its record to 36-26.

Al Miller had a big hit for Syracuse in the bottom of the first inning. With Syracuse leading 2-0, Miller hit a run-scoring double. It was his 17th double of the season and put the Squirrel Monkeys up, 3-0.

Miller told a Syracuse Today reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
