Monsters Squelch Fighting Dachsunds Offense in Shutout Win
|
Left-hander Mutu Kirra mesmerized the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds while leading the Monongahela Monsters to a 3-0 victory. Kirra, the winner, moves to 2-1. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up no walks. Luis Boll earned the save, his 8th, for the Monsters.
Monongahela left fielder Royce Foster contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a fastball into right field for a 2-run single. It was his 3rd hit of the season and put the Monsters ahead, 2-0.
Kirra told the Monongahela Observer: "Sometimes the big stage is not big enough for me."
Monongahela now has a 3-game win streak.
