Monsters Rally For 9-4 Win
Kansas got a decent performance from pitcher Bernard Miller, but it wasn't enough to beat the Monongahela Monsters. Monongahela won the Wichita Field contest, 9-4. Miller threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Ed Abood picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Chao Khu was tagged with the loss. With the win, Monongahela lifts its record to 5-8.

Monongahela used the timely hitting of Jesús Cortéz to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Monsters on top, 6-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Feels good to get the job done," Cortéz said after the game.
