The Monongahela Monsters topped the Sioux Falls Red Pandas, 3-1, in USSL Triple A action at The Bamboo Forest. The standout performance belonged to Monongahela pitcher and Yuma, Arizona, native Brian Thomas. The winning pitcher was Thomas, now 1-0. He tossed 5 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. Luis Boll earned the save for Monongahela, his 1st.
Kyung-chul Son put Monongahela in front, 2-0, when he hit a solo home run off Omar Morales in the top of the sixth. It was his 1st home run of the season.
Son told a Monongahela Observer reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
The win gives Monongahela a record of 1-1.
